Managing external projects and client relationships
This is the key aspect of the role and forms a wider aspect of managing our clients. Your role is to engender great relationships with our clients and ensure that they have a conduit into IG that is outside of the transactional day-to-day of projects. You are an overlay role that provides the client with all of the information they need about the stages and status of a project.
Our projects fall into two main types. They are either time-constrained or cost-constrained. Regardless of the type of contract, the consultants are responsible for tracking their own time, to which you have access.
Time constrained jobs are where we agree to do x number of days. As we reach certain milestones, your role is to assess this, speak with the consultants, and endeavor to upsell (where appropriate to the client).
Cost-constrained jobs are where we have agreed to complete a body of work at a fixed cost. We need to manage the days that are worked to keep on budget and identify opportunities for further work within the client. It is your responsibility to work with the consultants and the clients to establish and manage this need and work internally to generate proposals and project documentation.
All projects start within the sales process. You are a key individual of liaising internally and externally to ensure that all parties have all relevant information.
You also have responsibility for managing the invoicing of projects and their expenses. This is in tandem with internal accounts.
Managing internal projects
We have a number of internal projects that are ongoing at any time. For example, we have recently implemented a new telephony system and are in the process of having a new website designed, as well as gaining ISO accreditations. Your role is to ensure that all tasks are being completed and to coordinate internal and external resources to ensure that the projects are completed efficiently.
IG are involved in a few events each year. Primarily, we exhibit at IP Expo and UC Expo, as well as hosting our own Golf Day. Your role involves managing and organising these events. The Expos are our opportunity to show ourselves to the wider market place and are fairly lightweight in their coordination requirements, as they are organised by a third party. This is simply a case of making sure a few boxes are ticked and that our team is ready and raring to go.
The Golf day is a much more in-depth event that happens annually. We invite selected industry contacts and customers to the Golf day and this is our personal showcase. You will be supported internally regarding branding etc.
In addition, we are running the Tableau East Anglia user group. We see this as a series of 4 small quarterly events (10-20 delegates) that will be hosted locally. Again, whilst the onus is on your role, you will be supported internally.
For this role, we are looking for a person that is organised, outward-facing and affable and has the capacity to self-learn. We will always provide guidance and direction, but the burden of responsibility for driving your career is on you. The role requires energy, drive and the ability to get under the skin of problems and challenges to deliver excellent service both internally and externally.
Expertise on our subject matter is not required per-se, but there is an expectation to learn key concepts of the services we offer.
You will be proficient in Microsoft Office applications and be able to use these to manage your tasks.
Any trainings that you or we identify (e.g. PRINCE2, Tableau, MS Office) will be provided.
